What’s wonderful about Valencia is how quickly you can escape the city’s energy and step into a landscape of rice paddies, wetlands, sand dunes, and over 300 species of birds including wild flamingos, all under its own microclimate. If you choose a morning departure, we’ll begin with a visit to the protected bird sanctuary, where a gentle nature walk and an observation tower provide sweeping views of the lagoon, rice fields, and surrounding countryside. From there, we’ll continue to the water’s edge for a leisurely shared boat ride across the expansive lagoon, gliding past reeds and open horizon. If you would like to try an authentic paella in El Palmar, the fishing village celebrated as the birthplace of the world-famous iconic dish that is Paella Valenciana, then you would choose a midday-time option. It’s a delicious way to experience the culinary heritage of the region right where it began.
At sunset however, is one of the most popular times to come here, because it is considered a spot for Valencian romance, and young and old lovers alike wait to watch the sun go down. Once it dips it’s last rays behind the mountains, everyone claps and kisses their loved one next to them. A truly romantic and magical way to end the day, draping your photos in arrays of pinks, reds and orange hues.
