Once a small fishing village, it rose to prominence in the 15th century as the home of Pope Benedict XIII, known locally as Papa Luna, who transformed the Templar-built castle into his Papal Palace. The town later flourished as an important port during the Golden Age of Valencia, and its maritime character remains woven into its streets and promenades today.
We begin in the historic heart of the town, wandering through narrow cobbled streets and charming squares, where whitewashed houses and flower-filled balconies create picture-perfect scenes at every turn. The highlight of the morning is the castle and its gardens, perched dramatically above the sea.
