Availability: For our full-day Requena Wine Tour, we usually start at 8:45 AM to align with winery opening times. Museums/monuments in Requena and selected wineries are closed on a Monday, so we recommend booking Tuesday through Sunday for this tour.

Escape the city and spend a full day discovering the rustic charm, rich history, and world-class wines of inland Valencia on a private journey to the medieval village of Requena. Just 50 minutes west of the city, Requena sits at the heart of the Utiel-Requena wine region, one of Spain’s most celebrated ‘denominations of origin’, known for its native Bobal grape.

Our day begins at a carefully selected Requena winery, where we’ll wander through historic cellars, sun-drenched vineyards, and production areas while learning about traditional and modern winemaking techniques. The tasting here introduces several regional wines, sometimes paired with local Valencian delicacies — the perfect way to awaken your palate and get a sense of the region’s unique flavors.

We continue with a stop at Requena’s medieval castle tower to enjoy panoramic views, then a stroll through historic streets, and a visit to the ancient Moorish caves hidden beneath the old town — once used for wine storage and aging. If time allows, we may also visit the natural spring of Siete Aguas, famed for its mineral-rich medicinal waters, where you’re welcome to fill a bottle and take a little piece of the Valencian countryside home with you.

After the village tour, it’s time for another tasting — either at a cozy wine club tucked into the old town or at a second boutique winery nearby. You’ll sample 3–5 additional wines from the region, deepening your appreciation for the diverse terroir and winemaking styles that make Utiel-Requena so renowned.

Finally, we’ll pause for a leisurely late lunch at a local restaurant, with the chance to pair more Requena wines with traditional Valencian dishes. This is the perfect opportunity to relax, enjoy the local atmosphere, and immerse yourself further in the flavors of the region.

• The price of lunch is not included in the tour cost (to allow for flexibility) and will be paid directly to the restaurant on the day. We usually make a reservation at one of 3 restaurants we regularly use which have excellent quality from 20-40€/person on average. Your guide usually eats with you, assisting in translating and ordering, or choosing the dishes for you,, or you can meet your guide after your meal has finished if you prefer..
