After a scenic drive of just over two hours, we arrive in Teruel, a provincial capital rich in legend and artistry. The town is famous for its Mudejar architecture, a unique blend of Islamic and Gothic styles that earned UNESCO World Heritage status. As we explore the historic center, your guide reveals the romantic tale of the Lovers of Teruel, immortalized in the Mausoleum of the Lovers, a beautiful 13th-century monument that tells Spain’s own version of Romeo and Juliet. Teruel’s winding streets, elegant towers, and warm terracotta tones create an atmosphere both intimate and grand. You’ll have time to admire its cathedral, the San Pedro Church, and the beautifully tiled towers that rise like sentinels above the city.
