Come with us 50 minutes west of Valencia to sip local wines and explore Spain’s medieval and Moorish history,  not to mention the unique country-side dabbled with vineyards.

We will visit the quaint medieval town of Requena, best known for the Spanish wine denomination ‘Utiel-Requena’. There are several wineries, but we will visit the best with a tour of the old winery, vineyards and the production process, including tasting several wine and treats from the region. In the historical center of Requean, we will do more tasting, sampling 3-5 different wines from this region at the ‘Wine Club,’ whilst marvelling at the centuries of history and enjoying the scenery.

Lunch will be a three-course meal of your choice inside a beautiful 300 year old medieval home (dependent on reservations). We will then climb the medieval castle for gorgeous views of the countryside and a step into the medieval past of Spain.

After a short walk around the small town, we will end in the main plaza where we will visit Moorish caves underneath the old town, used in medieval times for wine storage among other things.

If time permits, we may stop at the famed medicinal waters of “Siete Aguas” – a fountain said to relieve drinkers of all ailments, so bring an extra water bottle to fill up on nature´s medicine.

The exact order of the spots to visit may be subject to change, due to opening times and so forth, but we will get to see it all regardless!

Meeting Point: Train Station, Bus Station, Port, Hotel, or Destination of Your Choice

We are happy to arrange a meeting point that is most convenient for you. We will gladly collect you and drop you off free of charge anywhere in the vicinity of the city center, port, beach, or City of Arts and Sciences. We would also be delighted to pick you up or drop you off outside of the city center or at the airport for a small fee.   

***For Port Pick Ups Only: Your private guide will meet you at the ‘Acciona Transmediterranea terminal’ at the cruise ship port, where your ship might be docking anyway. If you dock elsewhere, you will be at a pier a bit further away with restricted access for vehicles and private pick-ups. In this case, the port authorities will provide a shuttle bus, free of charge, that takes about 5 minutes to get to the Acciona Transmediterranea Terminal, which is the only place private pick-ups are allowed. Your guide will be waiting for you at the terminal with a sign in your name.

Transportation: 

• 4 people or fewer – Mercedes Class B (similar to a small SUV).
• 4-6 people – Chrysler Grand Voyager with tinted windows, leather seats, and electric doors.
• 7+ people – Private coach with a driver, in addition to your guide.

IMPORTANT NOTE (for groups of 6): In my larger touring car, the middle two seats are spacious and comfortable, and the back seat is a three-person bench seat that might be a tight squeeze for some. Before I can confirm a booking for six people with this vehicle, I will need confirmation that you understand this arrangement before I accept the booking. If you prefer, I would be happy to arrange a private coach and driver in addition to your guide. Please let me know that this is your preference when you submit your pre-booking form.

*Please note that while every full day tour includes time for lunch, the price of lunch is not included in the price of the tour, as it will need to be paid directly to the restaurant on the day. We would be delighted to organize lunch for you at a local restaurant within your preferred budget. If you prefer, your guide can accompany you to lunch to assist you with translating and ordering traditional foods, or you can meet with your guide after your meal as you wish.
